Fueled by a love of reading and burning passion to help the community, Hernando Guanlao gathered every book he could find then set up a small public library outside his home more than two decades ago. Countless community donations later, Reading Club 2000 continues today to help the underserved by spreading the joy of reading. This rebrand puts the concept of building blocks front and center. The free library provides children the “building blocks” to cultivate a love of reading by offering them free, uninhibited access to books. At the same time, by setting an example of what can be achieved through grassroots “bayanihan,” Reading Club 2000 provides other communities the “building blocks” of kindness, generosity, and volunteerism.
