Fascinated by the austere language used in instruction manuals, I wanted to contribute to this tradition by making a Quick Start Guide to Gay Sex, one that's matter-of-fact, straightforward, and doesn't carry the shame usually present when discussing queer intimacy.

Despite huge strides toward LGBTQ+ acceptance, the rise of extremism and bigotry looms large, and gay sex is still considered sinful by many. By appropriating a "manual" style of writing, this is my attempt to transform gay sex from taboo to common knowledge.
Printed media is part and parcel of queer culture. Artists, activists, and trailblazers often used this medium to galvanize movements amidst authoritarian regimes. By applying a manual’s rigid literature to the messiness of being us, I hope I honored the radicalism of our queer pioneers.
